Hola familia y amigos!
How are you all? Guess who will have been out for month on Wednesday...This Hermana! Ive been super excited to head out into the field, but now that I only have two weeks left here in the CCM Im starting to get more nervous. I cant believe that the time is coming up so quickly its crazy. This last week has been a pretty good one, not too much has gone on though. Last Tuesday we had a devotional from oneofthe members of the 70, Elder Martino, come and talkto us about the importance of missionary work and his talkwas incredible! He talked about how importantit is to open our mouths and topreach the Lords gospel. He tolda story abouta missionary whose Spanish was so hard to understand but he openedhis mouth and he converted somany people andthey even sent him to one ofthe hardest missions and he brought so many people in the church. He also said that through obedience comes great miracles and that we shouldnt be afriad to open ourmouths, be obidient, anduse our time for better things. He really broughtthe spiritto the devotional and imso gratefulfor his words. This week for pday we get to go to el marcado y take a tour of the city soI willdefinitely let you know how that goes. Tomorrow another group of my friends are leavingfor thiermissions which willonce again be a sad event, but Imglad they are going out to el campo de misional. My companera y yo are doing well still in our teachings and in our personal relationship with each other. We keep saying how we love being eachothers companera which worries us because were afraid that our companions in the field are going to be hard to get along with because we get alongso well. haha Hopefully that wont be the case but I guess if that does happen there will be something that I willneeedto learn from it. (sorry for the horrible writing, the keyboards in Guatemala are different and plus my spacebar is horrid). The coldhas been spreading around the CCM and unfortunately Ive caught alittle bitof itthis week, but noworries I am doing fine. Honestly I have been pretty happy hereat the CCM and Ive really grown spiritually in my understandingof the gospel. Ive learned so much aboutgospel topics that I didnt know and Ive really engaged myselfin my scriptures. For example,Ihadno ideadthat Nephi built a temple or that Adan y Eva were commanded to have children while still inthe Jardin de Eva! ha I know I still have so much tolearn, butIam greatfulforthe experiences I havehad in the CCM so far. Only two more weeks here, so hopefully I will continue tohavea great timehere and that I willcontinue to develop. My spanish is stillonly alright but Iam able to give lecciones in spanish and I am able to understand alot more ofwhat peoplesay when they speak to me or aregiving a lecture. Oh funny story, I cant rememberif I toldyou thisor not but a couple of weeksago when we went tot walmart, I was at the cashregister and my hair was coveringmy nametag and the cashier startedrattling off Spanish to me and I just sat there with a blank look on my face and then I realized she thought I was actually a Guatemalan! So I uncoveredmy name tag andthen she realized I was agringo and really didnt say much tomeafterthat! ha So my companion andI have been talkingtosomeofthe Latinosherein the CCM that are from or have been to El Salvador and apparently they speak very fast thereand slur thier wordsso that ought to be fun! haha Hopefully I can pick it up really quickly andhopefully I willhave a muy helpful companion! Im glad to hear from all of you, whether it be through emailor through lettersand Im so greatful for your support. Knowthat I feel the love thatyou allhave for me and knowthat you are all inmy prayers as well.I hope that I can make you all and the Lord happy with what I am doingand with what Imam going to be doing after these next two weeks.Have afantastic rest ofthis week. I love you alland really appreciate allyou dofor me!
Love,
Hermana Ontiveros :)
